
Sylvia Munson has worked in the natural gas industry for more than 30 years. With a background in chemistry and computer science, her primary role has been as a consultant helping companies meet regulatory requirements and implement technology solutions for natural gas. Sylvia has worked in production, gathering, midstream, intrastate, interstate, and local distribution companies. During this time, she has worked in IT, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Sales and, Training. She has contributed writing to several energy publications and been interviewed by several energy-trade publications during this time.
Ms. Munson is the author of Contents Under Pressure: The Complete Handbook of Natural Gas Transportation (2015) available on Amazon and on her website at ContentsUnderPressureBook.com
Sylvia has taught the principles of natural gas transportation and the associated regulatory processes in four countries - Canada, Mexico, India and the United States. She continues to teach and consult on regulatory implementations.
Ms. Munson is a member of the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) and the International Society for Mexico Energy (ISME). Sylvia has also participated in NAESB since its inception, serving as the chair of multiple subcommittees, teaching standards classes, serving on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and writing standards.
Ms. Munson has also participated in a congressional study on the Internet as one of the US Critical Infrastructures during President Clinton’s administration. She has served as an expert witness for software technology, software implementation and industry practices implementation related court cases.
Sylvia loves the gas industry, and is proud to be a part of the work that she has done.
